Hi,
I'm a 23 year old looking for a change of scenery. I want to move to Texas because I've always loved it and the people. I was trying to decide between austin/dallas/houston. I get the vibe that austin might be a younger crowd fresh out of high school and dallas is maybe a little too mature. I'm looking for somewhere I'll meet lots of people my age. I'm searching for apartments and I'm wondering which areas I should be looking in?

Do you have any skills to bring with you or do you just plan on winging it and getting a job at a star bucks? If it's the latter, Austin's bohemian lifestyle is more what you're looking for.

Midtown or Montrose if you can afford it. Areas just inside the West loop will be a little cheaper like the Greenway area. Just depends on your budget. Good luck

Optimally, you'd want to be inside the loop; however, your job and income level may not support that. Meaning, that if you are let's say a welder, and the majority of job openings are out in the Pasedena area, you might not want such a commute, even though it would be against traffic. As far as income, there is a premium that is paid for living in the most desired area, so to be inside the loop. where most 23-year-olds would enjoy, you'll be either allocating a large chunk of your income to rent or will be needing a roommate or two.

Like others have said, first, find a job.

BTW, I think Houston is a good place to come.

In that case, the second ward area on the other side of downtown.

Affordable and, as put to me recently, "Montrose being brought to the east side".

One of my older friends made a comment how the East End vaguely reminds him of old school Montrose. I forgot who was playing at Warehouse Live but it was one of those crowds.

Is the second ward area on the other side of downtown a safe area?

Yeah 2nd ward is ghetto in a lot of parts but its a really cool and interesting area with a lot of Houston history. I like the dirty and rough look

2nd Ward is a dump and you don't want to live there. Live in a fun area. Commutes are not a big deal.
