Good luck
make sure you do good in math, that's the "core" of electrical engineering
Electrical engineering is one of the toughest degrees, but it can be simple if you have a group of friends to do homework with.

Most of the time I studied by myself, I didn't have many friends (I didn't live in the dorms, wasn't in a fraternity and once I knew some people I got an internship that set me back one semester)
One time I spend about 4 hours on a problem that I couldn't figure out, because, tell you the truth, some professor are crappy teachers.
A friend of mine spent 5 minutes explaining how it works and now I can solve any of those problems in 10 minutes.

For electrical engineering I'd recommend to read about the first course they teach "Circuit analysis"
Here's some good information about computer engineering
http://www.ecs.umass.edu/ece/tessier...0-engin112.pdf
http://www.csl.cornell.edu/~cbatten/...g1060-2012.pdf

I couldn't find anything similar for electrical engineering

Really, even for an engineer (super hard to get into) ? I know that my SAT scores are low and I am nervous because I'm a review admit. I haven't heard anything back yet.

Don't do computer engineering. It is too specialized and there won't be lots of jobs for it. I would skip electrical too. Chemical is where the jobs are and where the money is at.

Your SAT is not bad. It won't get you into MIT, but it should at A&M. I would apply to UT also. Though it is so hard to get into if you are not in the top 10% of your class. I am assuming you don't want to go out of state because of tuition.

You could go to UH, tech, tcu etc and still get a good job in an engineering field. Pick ee, ce, or me

I will say this...even if you don't make the cut into engineering, you will probably be accepted into A & M. Just make your degree plan for general studies for the first year, then prove yourself. After that, you can change your major. My son did this. He is very intelligent and able, he just slacked in high school. He got into A & M but applied too late to get into the engineering program. After the first year, he applied to the engineeing program and graduated with an Aerospace Engineering degree.

Agree with the previous poster. Go to any of the big state schools and you should be more than fine. Our company is making a big push to hire petro engineers out of Texas Tech.

3.5 and to be top 13% is great...at Cinco Ranch HS a 3.5 would have landed you at top 45-50%. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! What are some of your preferences of A&M (and if you wanna chance feel free)?

I hope you are not saying that electrical engineering is too specialized.
Anything that is good in our World relies on electricity.
From TV broadcasting and computer chips to power distribution that gives electricity to every building.

There's electrical equipment all over the oil industry
from rig automation to everything you see in an oil refinery.
