Just got this notice from champion energy- wondering if it is worth securing this rate all the way through 2015?

Quote:
Your current contract expires 06/06/2014 and is at an energy rate of 6.7¢ per kWh. Renew early and you can lock in 6.7¢ per kWh through 6/6/2015.

Why Renew Early?
Industry forecasts predict that electricity prices will rise in 2014. By renewing early, you'll lock in a great rate, and avoid the risk of higher prices next year.

Just read the fine lines to make sure it doesn't say - based charge of 19.99 applies under certain circumstances.

6.7 is cheap if that's the real price, which most likely it is not because of other add-on's in smaller print.

Check for base charges, under 500 or 1000 kWhr charges, line distribution charges, meter fee, and any other fees that would in essence raise the rate up.

Don't do it. Champion changed from a no BS company to one that advertises rates without the adders to sucker people and also be on top in the search engine. That's as low as eBay IMO.

6.7 is just the charge for the actual electricity. Doesn't include any TDU fees or fees from the REP. You would need to look at the price per kwh that includes all those fees to determine if it is a good deal or not.

I'd be curious to see what you find hulio82. That would be awesome if that is the actual, true rate. If that were the case, I'd do it.
