Hi All,

We are moving to Houston from Singapore and work is located near the crossing of "west little york road" and "Hempstead highway" just below NorthWest freeway. We are looking at options to either live in woodlands or in Memorial. What is the commute from woodlands down north fwy and than onto sam houston Tollway? We want to live in a house and what would be a good budget for woodlands and memorial? Are there any other areas to consider? we need to be close to international school and near other expats preferrably.
Also is memorial safe place?

Thanks appreciate your help!

Roeland

The best way to find out about commute time is to use Google Maps.

You can also find property listings by going to Houston Real estate, Houston homes, Houston Realtors - HAR.com

I am not familiar with international schools in Houston, is there a specific one you were thinking of?

Memorial, depending on how you're defining it, is in general safe. But it does have its bad areas.

Houston Heights or Cottage Grove perfect. Very close to work. Dense by suburban Houston standards but wide open by your Singapore standards. Very close to work. A lot close to museums, fine restaurants. Public school not so great but sounds like you're looking private. Not too far from Bellaire ChinaTown for Asian grocers and restaurants.

Lakes on Eldridge North is the neighborhood you seek. Practically next door to office, predominantly expat population with bus service to Awty Int'l School (I'm certain) and British School (less certain about this.)

Your office is near Jersey Village What kind of housing budget do you have? I would not recommend commuting from The Woodlands to there it would be an hour easy in rush hour traffic. Memorial is a safe and nice area. The pricier real estate is south of I-10. It is also near Awty International School. Expect to pay 600k - $1 million for a house in this area.
