City of Houston murder map by Houston Chron, would be nice if they actually posted links to the murders like NY Daily News.

You really only hear about murders in good areas. No one cares about people dying in the hood.

That's because people "dying in the hood" is so 1990s and early 2000s.

It is pretty plain to see that you have a decent chance of getting killed if you're hanging out on the southwest side or any place between the Third Ward and Sunnyside. All in all, not too surprising. The other usual dangerous spots exist, as do the outliers in the random suburb murders.

If you don't do anything stupid and avoid places you really don't belong, you usually won't get killed.

The murder rate is lower in Houston than in most American cities. Still too many, though.
