Thanks for the great suggestions. Our budget is 700ish . There are few homes in 77024 right now which is within our budget but is ON gessner...Too busy of a street ...

Also Nottingham West - can find a small (2100-ish) home in the high $300s plus - zoned to exemplary Wilchester than Spring Forest and Stratford.

Also Westchester and Nottingham Forest 8 (west of Dairy Ashford) -$500s plus.

East of Kirkwood and Nottingham Forest will be $600 plus....except maybe the last few streets in the Nottingham neighborhood.

You could also try to find a house zoned to Barbara Bush in HISD ...77077.

You might want to look at Lakes of Parkway or Parkway Village. Pretty good HISD schools.

Or jump the Addicks dam and look at Green Trails.

Only deterrent to Lakes of Parkway is the commute to downtown

If you want the area, you are better off going a bit further west if all you can find is on Gessner. That is a pretty busy street now. You would be fine west of Beltway with that budget.

Good luck!!

Trade off would be the school . Frostwood is currently ranked pretty high . I am wondering if a busy street would do for the area and school.

Yes - go for it, if you are set on Frostwood. Nothing wrong with that. You know what you are getting as far as the street goes. You make trade-offs -traffic,
noise. You will also have to supervise outside play and limit street play but as
long as you are fine with that do what makes you happy and what you think best for your family. No disputing it is a nice area.

Can't go wrong with Wilchester Elem. Zoned to MMS and Stratford.

My kids went to Wilchester Elem/Memorial MS and Stratford HS and we had positive experiences all the way through. I'm not sure why Stratford gets slammed on here so much.

I heard from someone recently (someone who just pulled her child out of Stratford) that Stratford is great - really excellent actually - if your child is on advanced track. Pretty horrific if your child takes regular classes. They said that the students in those classes from the working-class area near the high school caused an unruly and very non-academic classroom atmosphere. Seems like a strong statement to make, but just repeating what I heard.
