Isn't fresh produce matter? Why would you want to buy food from anywhere outside of Texas even?

Most produce in Texas is from Mexico

LOL, from/to Houston, Mexico is still much closer than many parts of Texas. Besides, not all farmers markets carry produce from Mexico. You'd be surprise how local (near) the produce comes from.

Hmm, not sure about a farmer's market. But Phoenicia Specialty Foods on the west side or Central Market inside the loop are probably your best bets.

^^^ I agree! This and specialty (ethnic stores). Indian/Pakistani on Hillcroft, H-Mart and 99Ranch on Blalock, Chinese in Chinatown (Bellaire), Italian on Durham... etc.
