Super corrupt, based on the amount of cops that have been bought by companies and churches to give preferential treatment to their patrons/employees.

Just like in most cities there are good cops and bad cops. But in my opinion I really dont like the vast majority of HPD. Most of them that I have had any dealings with were arrogant pricks that were more interested in seeing what they can arrest you or ticket you for than in actually helping. However, I did meet this nice elderly cop that actually told me the truth. He told me he was checking to see if I had been drinking. When he saw I was fine he wished me a good night and went on his way. Thats how it should be, not the jerks that stop you and harrass you until they find some small, obscure reason to ticket you just so they don't look stupid for stopping you for no reason.

HPD = LAPD of the 90s. They seem very unapproachable, intimidating and unhelpful. They seem to want to arrest anyone and everyone for the smallest thing. There are some good HPD but as a force they seem harsh and ppl in Houston avoid them or seem terrified of them.

Ive never had a single bad run in with the police here. In my line of work i deal with them semi frequently. Quite a few have been pretty caring. If youre a douche or belligerent bet the cop dealing with you will be too. Pretty sure you need to start out as a street cop before you ever become a detective. Where is OP from where there isnt crime?

I've Always had respect for law enforcement. They do a job not many of the rest of us would want to do...while maybe most days are routine, when they pull over a car for a minor infraction, they never know if that person could be wanted for something more and prepared to shoot. It's a thankless job. There are good and bad officers, just like good and bad in every profession. However, if someone who has broken the law runs into a bad officer, I don't really care what happens to the lawbreaker. When someone chooses to break the law, harm others, steal, etc they've chosen a risky occupation.

Haven't had any bad run ins with HPD. Have let me go twice with my car smelling like a pound of weed. The first time I didn't even get the speeding ticket. Just got a "consider this your lucky day" the second time he was I got the speeding ticket but the cop was like "don't drive around smelling like that stuff".
