I think IAH is in great shape with UA going forward, Terminal B south is almost finished, Terminal B North should start soon. American just launched DFW-HKG and DFW-PVG, I wonder how UA will react to this.

It appears these global airline alliances are becoming more and more important to how airlines operate

Airline alliance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

United is part or Star Alliance , Southwest is unaffiliated

I agree, perhaps this will pressure UA to add these routes out of IAH.

IAH is an embarassment comparred to most of the other major airports, I actually had a pilot announce the reason that the jet way was so hot is that they couldn't get the "management" of the airport to fix the ac. I was there in the summer and the bathrooms were disgusting as well.

Talking about making 1st impressions on vistors to our city....

I disagree. I fly a lot, and am always impressed with how our bathrooms compare to other cities. They are clean and well designed.

Small point: When you go into the men's bathrooms to use a urinal, Bush has little hooks in each stall to hold your carry-on. Most airports don't, and this always bugs me. It seems so easy to offer, so why do most airports not have them? And kudos to Bush for having them!

Is there any reason for this thread when we already have other United threads? Including the one actively being debated right now?

They other one is a debate about a past issue that is simply being dragged on. This thread I started as a keep up to date with what is going on at UA and IAH, rather than the UA harmed by WN at HOU nonsense.

They wont. IAH-HKG is actually a much smaller market than DFW-HKG and with DFW and HKG being Oneworld hubs, theres good connectivity on both end. IAH-HKG wouldnt be a successful flight because of the lack of the above. DFW-PVG probably wont last long term anyway so I cant imagine UA would be threatend by it.

Would IAH-ICN stand a better shot than IAH-HKG, for sure. Im still skeptical. The local market isnt hot and most would be bound for China anyway. The best thing that could have happend in the IAH-Asia market happend: Air China started Houston. That was the biggest hole in the market.

Perhaps, IAH-ICN could be a 787 route but I think IAH-ICN would fare about as well as DFW-PVG will. Im not optimistic about either.

Well, IAH is the largest hub for UA, terminal B north will have mainline gates, so once that is finished expansion will occur.
