We are moving to Houston with a 6 year old. We want to rent a two bedroom house. Only looking to spend 800-1100. Where should we look? Thanks in advance.

That's a good question. I'm moving to Houston & we're having difficulty finding a nice place we like for under $2500/month in the suburbs. I seriously doubt you are going to find anything in your price range actually in Houston. And two bedrooms would be easier to find in an apartment--not a house.

Where is your job? People here might also be able to at least narrow down an area, if you want to keep the commute within reason. Good luck!

We will be all over the city. He's an electrician and I'm a phlebotomist. I have actually found quite a few options I'm just not sure on which areas would be best for our family.

You can rent in the hood for that price. Search on har.com and see what it comes up with. That is a tough price range.

Where have you found (just zip code)? Have you actually seen any of these?

Home wise- You can find something in Cleveland Texas / Alvin, Texas or even parts of Huffman (Northeast Houston)

Apartments - Your options are pretty decent for 2 bedroom in most of the suburbs

I haven't seen any yet. I wanted to narrow down a bit first. Many zip codes 77373, 338, 088, 060, 039. I looked near highly rated schools.

There are a number of condos/apartments along Gaylord drive in 77024 that would just about fit that price range. I live in a 2br in that area for 1200/month, but that includes a/c, electric and cable so it's really more like 900 would be in most rental situations that require you to pay your other expenses.

Anyway, this is a great area for schools. My son attended Memorial drive elementary and he's in Spring Branch Middle now--if we stay he'll go to Memorial HS which is excellent. In most respects this is a great area. The condo is alright, but I'd rather have a yard. I'd also rather have my son go to school with kids that are more in his economic bracket but then you can't have everything you want. Overall this isn't too bad. Houston is a very rough city to rent in right now.

you can check out Apartments for Rent | An Apartment Finder & Guide for Rentals - ForRent.com and there are plenty of apartments in houston for that price range. Nice ones too. If you are not necessarily looking to stay in Houston, you can check out Sugar Land, Katy, or League City. All nice areas with two bedroom apartments in that price range. Good luck to you

Not sure why someone said you wont find something in the city for that price. You can certainly get something in a working class area for it. No it won't be in the hood.
