Sadly, none of the new grocery stores are opening close to Eado, Eastwood or adjacent neighborhoods where a full-line grocery store is really needed. Kombat Kroger on Cullen, HEB Gulfgate and the smaller chain stores have limited selection so many residents drive to Midtown or Montrose for weekly grocery shopping.

Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't understand Trader Joe's. Processed Food Central.

Whole Foods is over killing it.

All I desire is a more western location for a REAL Central Market.

Other than that..eh.

Those areas are in a food desert, and it's still too risky to open a nice new store there.

I still want a trader Joe's in Sugar Land. Where did the previous poster hear there was one coming?

i hope thats not true.. with all the retail coming online in 2014 at BLVD Place and River Oaks District that doesnt leave a whole lot of retail for developments like The Kirby Collection, West Ave Phase III, or that 1+ million sq ft mixed use development with retail, to name a few, though i guess those probably wont be finished this year..

Yea, they expect 2.61 million total, so that will only leave about 1.3 million for everything else. In 2008 we added 6.3 mil so I guess there will be an even bigger boom later since builders are expected to add 30 to 35k homes a year for the next 5 years not to mention multifamily, all those people are going to want to shop somewhere.
