New home, the most expensive thing some people buy and you want to cheaply protect it? I suggest removing all smoke detectors, locks, screens, and safety mechanisms, etc as well.

I dont think anything wrong with OP questions. I am sure no one wants to pay $3000 insurance.

Live close to the coast and you will. Old house in La Porte was $3500 a year and the beach house is $3100 a year. New house in Katy is $1100, however the beach house just went up to $3850 this year... All about where you live and what coverage you have.

You need to call around and get quotes. What is cheaper for me, might be more expensive for you and what is more expensive for someone could be cheaper for you. Depends on how much coverage you need, where you live, when your house was built, etc, etc. Too many variables to just say who is the cheapest without calling.

I think you are misunderstanding my question, WHICH INSURANCE COMPANY WILL GIVE ME A CHEAP RATE. This is not about GOING cheap. This question is about getting a good insurance company that generally gives better rates. Send me some numbers to call, people I can shop my rate around. If you're not going to contribute to the thread, don't post. We have enough sarcasm as is on this forum

Exactly, Most people are quoting me at $3000 - $3200 with 2% deductible, my home is in Montrose. I'm trying to get in the $2200 - $2500's with possibly 1%

Yeah, so far I have shopped 3 - 4 companies, State Farm, AAA and a few others.. they all kind of quoted me high. What do you use?

Any companies people recommend me call? Thanks

How are you determining they've quoted you high? If they are all pretty close to each other, that's probably about what you can expect to pay. I use Allstate and pay about $400/yr for about 190k of coverage but have wind coverage through TWIA due to living in Galveston County which is an additional $1400 or so. That's with a 1% deductible on both.

Because my home is only 2800 sq ft built in 09', I'm pretty sure I should be in the $2500 a year range. I got a company that offered $2400 but had a 3% deductable, If I can get a company that covers hail, hurricane and fire.. I will be fine. Ideally I want $2500 and 1.5 - 2% deductible. I'll give Allstate a ring tomorrow

Size of the home doesn't matter, the replacement cost is what your coverage will be based on. Not sure of Allstate is writing homeowners polices for new customers in this area anymore.
