Are you usinghttp://www.har.com ?

Go to "find a home/find a Realtor" then click on "single-family" and leave most of the areas blank. You can look by "zone" or "area" or whatever it is they call it (ie: 20 - Bellaire South, 9 - Central north, etc.) or subdivision name. Just enter Maplewood there.

Where are you moving from? What criteria are you looking for? Will you be working in the Galleria area? Do you have kids?

Hi vickiapg....
I am already in Houston now. I have mentioned the criteria in the start of the thread.

I dont have any kids and thats why i am not bothered with the school district now. Heard that I will save on some taxes if its HISD.

To get that price range, I would check out some of the original (read: cheaper) homes in Oak Forest. It's not gated, but the interior of the neighborhood can be downright sleepy. I work downtown, and my commute is minimal for Houston (<15min). The post about owning your home on Jan 1 of a year to receive homestead exemption is correct. The savings is 20%. Additionally, there are caps in place so you don't see 80% increases year-over-year, for example. 2007 rates are WAY under 2006 rates, wherever you buy in Houston proper. Good luck!
