Just read the biggest Houston newspaper
at least their webpage would make anybody think that Houston is a small town with all the dumb "You won't believe this" or "House for sell" articles

A few days ago the "Top story" on their webpage was a slideshow of "Mark Cuban through the years"

It was actually about a Houston woman who keeps having visions of this room in NYC. It is a very low budget horror movie. What I liked about it was the way it realistically depicted the struggles of a hard-pressed working family.

This city just isnt that type of town. Its history and identity is really just now coming onto its own.

Its a working town, with no real push to be like a Chicago, Miami, or Atlanta. And we're doing pretty well.

Those accents, smh. Only Jada was close enough to it. the rest of them are up there with Terrance Howard in Hustle and Flow, really bad attempts at a Southern accent.

I guess maybe Eddie griffin, but the rest of the cast were all from NYC.

Terms of Endearment is the biggest film/tv Houston has ever had. Oscar winning movie and probably the only good thing every shot in Houston.

At the end of the day, we really aren't that different than Atlanta, though. The mass population of that city isn't any more interesting than Houston, nor do the people live their lives any differently.

Like I said before, there's no real reason that Houston can't become a pop culture city. We have the culture, we have the diversity, we have the interesting neighborhoods, and, yes, there's even enough glamour and fashion here to support a vapid Bravo reality series.

Kind of old, but Hellfighters (1968) starring John Wayne was supposed to be based on the Houston company founded by "Red" Adair. There's one scene where they hop in a helicopter outside the headquarters in Houston and the 1968 skyline is prominently displayed.

How can you go wrong with John Wayne, Vera Miles, Katharine Ross and Jim Hutton?

Exactly. I enjoyed the movie [Jada was the most beautiful woman in the world to me before she filled her cheeks up with concrete], but I was cringing the whole time. I was like is this really how people think we act and talk down south?? lol

I watch The Little Couple, and while the city is not the "star" of the show, it does come out looking very good.

I'm looking forward to this, although it's (right now, at least), being presented as a "mini-series"--Life Flight. I tried to post a link, but no luck.
