My family just moved here to Houston...we are loving it, but.....
My son just started calling around to get car insurance quotes for himself and WOW! He is 19 and has 2 accidents...but the insurance here will be more than double what it was in California. I was surprised because my insurance is about the same,

Can anyone suggest a good company that is cheap??

TIA

It would help to know where you looked thus far and got the higher-than-expected rates (and what those rates were, if you can share).

He is male and 19 and with two accidents...unfortunately it will be expensive through anyone. Being a male in this age group makes this the most expensive insurance. I think his rates won't go down until he is over 25 and hopefully can stay accident free until then. Not sure what you were quoted but expect to pay upwards of around $100.00 a month or more. All of the insurance companies should charge around the same. Consider using the same company as your homeowner's to get somewhat of a discount. Otherwise try Geico and have your son take anything he can to bring the rate down. Try defensive driving, drug and alcohol awareness class, etc. Hope this helps!

Yes, Geico offers lots of discounts - defensive driving, safety (anti-lock brakes in car, theft deterrent, etc) and also check if your employer or any professional organization you belong to may have a deal with them.

I had Geico when I was that age and they really robbed me since I didn't know any better. No accidents or tickets either. I switched to Progressive and paid half what Geico was charging me. Later I switched again to Liberty Mutual and paid about 25% less than what Progressive charged. Still with Liberty Mutual after many years.

Safeco may be an option. My cousin who moved here from NC had a similar situation and was paying only like $150 liability only driving a Chrysler.

If you have a Costco membership it is worth checking Amerprise which is sold through Costco. Saved my wife and me a ton of money over State Farm. I believe you can get quotes through their web site. It would be worth the annual membership if the savings is substantial.

I have Liberty Mutual and I saved lots of money when I switched from Farmers.

But seriously 19 and with 2 accidents, it is going to be very hard to get reasonable quotes. He may need to get a bike.
