I read these first three sentences and thought you were joking at first!
So did I!! I mean, when I read the newsletter! Then I looked at the timeline and stats and was shocked, but it's true. Scary, eh?!?! LOL!

Ah, okay, maybe you can answer this then. I swear I heard on the news that the section of the freeway that cracked, that actual elevated lane was never "rebuilt" in the 610 construction, but only re-furbished in the columns, etc...did you ever see anything about that? I wondered if that were true.

Default Coming to Houston

We will be coming to Houston on October 3rd from Georgia. How is the gas supply there?

It has immensely improved since last week. No line ups at the stations that are open (not all are yet). I did notice that some are out of premium (and hence the mid-grade blend).

It's fine. Have some ca$h money with you because some rinky-dink gas stations' credit card machines aren't working.

But since this post is about I-10 construction, and you're coming from the east, be aware that there is a lot of it between Hankamer and Cove, and from the western extensions of Baytown to just east of Beltway 8. AND to top it all off, some nights 10 is completely shut down between Beltway 8 and Loop 610, forcing you to perhaps pay a toll and use 225. I-10 is almost completely being redone in the metro outside the loop, and for good reason. It's in the same state of disrepair as a usual L.A. freeway.

And... try to stay off of the E Fwy from 4-7pm, as this is rush hour and idiots like me commuting from the Beaumont-Port Arthur area are pretty ruthless, trying to complete the 90 mile commute as fast as possible. This + disproportionate amounts of 18 wheeler transit can make it an adventure to say the least.
