I second the poster above who said Sugar Land will fit the bill, and I would add Sienna Plantation in Missouri City to your list of places to check out.
I respectfully disagree. When you look at some of the threads here when people with families are looking for suburban neighborhoods, you'll often see people say, "________ isn't really a good neighborhood for kids. There aren't many sidewalks, no playgrounds and you never see kids out playing". One example of this is Walden On Lake Houston. If you look at threads where people have asked about the Atascocita, Kingwood, Summerwood areas, it often comes up. My parents moved there, and I can tell you that you hardly see kids in that neighborhood. I've actually posted here several times in replies to people with kids considering it and saying that it's more for empty-nesters and an adult oriented neighborhood. I'd find it hard to believe that it's the only neighborhood in the suburbs like that. Sure, most of the MPC's are very kid oriented, but there are a lot of neighborhoods that don't fall in that category.

Thank you! I'm sorry for my blanket statement, I over-generalized. Maybe the OP should check out those neighborhoods.

I will say that most new neighborhoods are definitely designed to cater to kids, especially the MPC's. If the OP is looking for new construction, I definitely agree with you that most of those will be in "rugrat" neighborhoods.

You may have been thinking new construction/new neighborhood, and I should have pointed out that most of the adult type neighborhoods tend to be older ones.

I have friends in Walden, Sienna, Pearland and Clear Lake (Katy too but I don't go there). All have raised kids, and these areas have 'good schools'. But I don't see much in terms of kids playing outside or utilizing the parks. They seem to congregate to the neighbor that has a pool...or indoors with Xbox.

Not many kids in my townhome area. I hear more from the neighbors externally-off the roof/patios than through any walls. Check out the 6th ward, you may be surprised.

That's EVERYWHERE. Most kids no longer go outside to play. Everybody's on Facebook/twitter/instagram/ Or playing video games.
