We are looking at a house for which elementary school is Lakeview. It seems the rating of this school is falling over the last few years. What is the reason for that.

Is it no longer a good school or is it still good ?

By ratings, are you talking about Greatschools ratings and reviews or "Exemplary", "Recognized", etc? I work near the school and have very limited contact with some who work there. The feeling I get from them is that they are doing the best with what they have. It's a school in the middle, not wealthy but not Title I either. I also get the feeling parent involvement isn't that high. That could be because of working parents or parents who aren't confortable with English. The attendance zone is rather broad and appears to me to pull mostly middle class, but Mayfield Park behind the Sugar Mill is zoned here.

If I can pull them up again later on, I will post the attendance zone map and the TEA school report card, which shows test scores and percentages of economically disadvantaged, limited English, etc.

If you're looking for a school in that area with better "ratings", I would suggest Sugar Mill or Rita Drabek.

Thanks !

I was referring to the ranking published annually in Houston Chronicle.

Just FYI... FBISD is considering, at some point, re-purposing Lakeview ES into something else (no longer will be an elementary school) because all but one of the neighborhoods zoned to it are far away/ not within walking distance. Also it's an old building.

Interesting. Hadn't heard that, but it makes sense.

OP, here are links to the attendance boundary and TEA school report card:

The attnedance boundary is rather spread out. What area are you looking at houses in? Close to the school or more towards 1464? If you're looking out that way, the schools I originally named as alternates would not make as much sense to you.
