Hello,
My family will be moving to Houston in July 2014 and we were recommended St. Catherine's Montessori School as a great, nurturing environment for our 4 year old.
Anyone has experience with this school?
Any inputs, comments and experiences will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

We loved it. Kids were there pre-k thru kinder. Sometimes I wish we kept them there. I know families whose older kids are there. Feel free to pm me.

My two young children both attend St. Catherine's. It is a wonderful, very nurturing school with a fantastic faculty and staff. We plan on keeping our kids there through 8th grade, or possibly 9th depending on what we decide to do for high school.

Did you want to start this fall? The application deadline was in February. You might be able to apply for mid-year admission, but I am not sure if they still do that for Primary (3-6 year-olds). There are three steps to admission: first you have to take a tour; then do a classroom observation; once your observation is done you will get an application. Feel free to ask more question or pm me. Good luck!

It was our back up choice (we ended up with School of the Woods, because St. Catherine's had wait lists) and from what I've heard from other people who go there and from what I've seen, the school looks great. I absolutely loved that after the observation one of the teachers from the classroom we were interested in sat down with us and answered all of our questions. I am a former teacher myself, so I had a LOT of questions.

I hope you get in. As I mentioned above, we were not able to even though I applied on the first day the application was posted.

3-6 class is in high demand in most schools. From my experience as well as my friends' experiences the average wait list time for good schools (not elite!) for kids age 3-6 is about 1.5-2 years.

We applied to St Catherine's and Post Oak but were accepted be that latter. We have been very happy with Post Oak (except the bill). Our neighbors kids go to St Catherine's and they seem to be happy with the school, with only complaint being too little interaction between parents and teachers. Granted I don't know that to be true first-hand.
