I'm pursuing a job opportunity in Houston (The Woodlands) and am looking for a small house as I am single with no children.

I've been to Conroe before and really liked it and the commute wouldn't be that bad, I don't think.

There is a new development on the east side within the loop called Shady Woods where you can get houses from 1300 to 1600 square feet. They are inexpensive, starting at about $117,000. They look promising on the internet, but I was wondering if anyone has looked there for a house, or knows anything about the neighborhood and builder?

I'm also considering Tomball and Spring, but a brand new house that has never been lived in is appealing to me.

A brand new, shiny house does sound appealing. Just be prepared as to what those houses will probably look like in 5 yrs or so. My experience has been that these houses are cheap because they are made cheaply.

No kidding, that's why I was hoping someone knew about the builder. I'd rather rent than end up with a cheap house that falls apart in a few years.
