Easy way to fix this, throw in jail people that hire illegal immigrants (enforce e-verify)
People are gonna keep on coming as long as they know that they will get a job

We Party Patriots » Rick Perry: Soft on Immigration, Opposed to E-Verify - Sep. 2011

Meanwhile, Perry loses support on all ends of the political spectrum for his opposition to E-verify. In a 2010 debate, Perry said, “E-verify would not make a hill of beans’ difference in what’s happening today.”
E-verify checks the information supplied by job applicants against a national database of Social Security numbers, alerting employers to the possibility of hiring someone not legally allowed to work in the United States.

I can't help but wonder if the millions of illegal immigrants from latin america put as much effort into improving their country as they do sneaking into the US if that wouldn't address the cause of illegal immigration...

That plus we need to get rid of the outdated notion of citizenship by birth. It made sense when it was adopted I'm sure, but it causes more problems than solves now.

It's ok. For some minor discomfort they will be changed, fed and burped for life now. Meanwhile 1000s, with skills and educations, wait in line for years to come in the legal way.
Oh c'mon. These folks are coming here to feed their families and seek a better life.

What would you do? Wait in line for years when you're family has nothing to eat today? If so, I'd hate to be someone that's dependent on you.

So what would you suggest? Should we just open the flood gates and let everyone into our country? I would have to agree with EasilyAmused.

No, I'm saying to have some empathy for these folks.

Have empathy for people who break our laws and cost us millions or more in a period of low economic growth? We have a $16 trillion debt that both parties gave us, we don't need to add to it out of a sense of empathy for people who couldn't empathize for those who were willing to go through the proper channels.

This thread is one of the unfortunate realities of Houston. We can always act as this never happens and hope the problem will correct it self lol. Human trafficking is big business in Houston.
