If you go to attachment F-2 you'll notice that because of the Dodson Elementary closing, changes are happening to the Blackshear Elementary attendance zone. Therefore parts of Midtown and Downtown are being rezoned to Gregory Lincoln elementary. In the case of Downtown, much of it is being rezoned from Bruce elementary with some from Blackshear elementary. In Midtown's case, all portions zoned to Blackshear are being rezoned to Gregory Lincoln. Therefore Gregory Lincoln will be the zoned school for elementary and middle school of the vast majority of both Downtown and Midtown.

The number of children in Downtown, let alone those in public school, can probably be counted on one hand. However Midtown has some homeless shelters, and the parents at J. Will Jones did not like the idea of sending their kids to Blackshear back when J. Will Jones was closed in 2008. Backlash Upon Backlash at HISD - Page 1 - News - Houston - Houston Press - Maybe they will like Gregory Lincoln better?
