Anyone know anything about this area? I drove around there and it seemed okay. I looked up the crime statistics, and to my untrained eye it seemed fine.

I know sometimes it depends on the street, so specifically were looking about here: https://www.google.com/maps/@30.06816,-95.385378,17z

My wife and I are looking to buy somewhere around this area (our first home), and there seem to be lots of cheap homes.

Any insight would be appreciated.

If it's Cypresswood east of the Hardy, it's in the Spring ISD. Their zoning maps are available here. Attendance Zones - Spring ISD Determine which one serves your house, and you can check the ratings. Spring High School is the zoned high school of areas of Spring proper (ones defined by the US government as being in the census-designated place of Spring).

Spring ISD does not have as good of a reputation as Klein ISD. Historically Spring High School has been the best of the Spring ISD high schools but it's possible wealthier parents will leave after an incident where a student was stabbed to death by another student.

I believe that in cases where "student stabs another student to death at a school" ... after the guilty plea but before going to prison. Members of the community should have the opportunity to verbally roast the student for what he did to the community (by harming the reputation of the school, the community is harmed), insulting him, heckling him, etc. until he cries... especially if the student is not genuinely sincere in apologizing.

I honestly think shame and guilt are better for punishing than sending someone on a quest to become a better criminal in prison. Embarrass them, and they'll be not as willing to do it again.
