Tomorrow, I am taking my car to Christian Brothers Automotive at Champions on 1960.

Car: Honda Accord 2008

Problem: When the brake is applied the steering shakes sometimes little bit

Cause: Rotors might be going bad

My question is how much does it cost to change the rotors?

Anyone has any experience with Christian Brothers Automotive at Champions?

If the rotors only need to be turned, it shouldn't be very much; however, it amazes me at how much repair shops charge for such simple things as brakes.

BTW, it seems some people automatically write bad thing about them due to the "Christian" part. I have no experience with them at all.

To turn rotors shouldn't cost more than $15-25/rotor without labor costs of removing or diagnosing.

So throw in an hour to remove, I wouldn't pay more than $100.

I had the same issue with my 08 Accord. If I braked HARD, I had some shaking thought it was the antilock system though.

Sounds like you have hot spots on your rotors or glazed brake pads. That happens sometimes.

Its a Honda. You rarely leave without $200 or more spent. Good thing is not much happens between scheduled maintenance.

You will buy new rotors at $50-60 each plus hour of labor = $200. Oh maybe throw in a brake flush at another $50.

So my guess on your quote is $250.

I paid around 400 for new pads and rotors six months ago at Christian brothers in sugar land. U'll find a whole thread that I started back then.

Try American Tire & Automotive at 16924 Kuykendahl. They're North of FM 1960, between FM1960 W. & Cypresswood. Talk to Billy (owner) or his wife, Debra. Phone# (281) 580-0060.

This autoshop used to belong to Jimmy Irby, an honest and reasonable owner. Mr. Irby never disrespected nor underestimated women's knowledge about mechanics. If we didn't know something, he pulled out images and educated us about our cars. When he retired and passed the business over to Billy, he requested Billy to keep the same policy. I've used them for over 20 years and 3 cars now. I trust them and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Hope my reply is still usable if not for you, maybe to someone else.
