Anyone familiar with the Chinese community in Houston? I lived in China for several years and am considering relocating to Houston, but am curious about how much a presence there is from this demographic. Do they mostly live in a single area? I know there is a China town, but how does it compare to the likes of LA or Chicago? I know SF and NY have far larger.

The chinese in Houston mostly lived in Sugarland or around Bellaire Alief area. The population is growing but obviously is not like LA or NY. Think of Bellaire as the poor man's version of Monterey Park. Think of Sugarland (professionals with higher income) as Irvine.

You should be able to feel comfortable living in either area to assimilate into the chinese community. Any other areas might not fit as well if being part of the asian community is big for you.

I'm not really looking to be part of the community, just curious as to how widespread and influential it is throughout the Houston area.

They are the largest Asian population here in Houston along with the Vietnamese. Most of the Asian businesses are located out in the western part of the city along Bellaire Blvd. That part of town has been growing rapidly since the early 2000s.
