Being relatively new to the area, I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for a small-ish (50-60 people), afterwork get-together. I liked the idea of St. Arnold's, as the beer and a bartender is included in the price and our organization is looking to cover the cost of the whole thing. Problem is, their only availability in late May is before 4pm. As much as I'd like to encourage day drinking, I'm guessing most people won't be able to get out of work to attend. Anyone have ideas of some place similar in the Galleria/DT area?

For breweries....Karbach, 8th Wonder, Buffalo Bayou Brewery.

Not sure what your budget is...but you could also consider Top Golf.

Top Golf is fun for a get-together but very far west and you would battle horrible traffic getting there in the evening from town.

Thanks for the other brewer names. I did contact Karbach and 8th Wonder, since their websites really don't make mention of private events and space. Love the idea of Top Golf, but I think it might end up a little out of our price range once you add in drinks and food (St. Arnold's allowed for bringing in outside food).

Our company had it's last Christmas party at the Cadillac Bar on Shepherd. The private space behind the restaurant has it's own entrance and the room has a cool vibe. The margaritas were good and so was the Tex Mex. Looks like you are trying to keep costs down though, so this might be a little pricey.

Thanks for the suggestion! We're just looking for after work drinks + light food and not a full dinner, so I think their selections may actually have some options for us.

Just FYI in case you will need outside catering, the dads club at my children's school uses Demeris BBQ for their annual social (at St. Arnolds). It's delicious, and there is a location very close to the Karbach brewery. The Cadillac Bar suggestion also sounds great, a Houston institution.

Downtown and Galleria are two distinct areas. Where are you looking to be near?

I know, and it's really a crapshoot. This will be for hotel industry professionals, so probably pretty evenly split between people coming from work in Galleria area and people coming from Downtown. Not near anything, specifically, just trying to make it so no one has to go too far out of their way before heading home.
