My wife and I are currently looking at a home that will be zoned to this high school. We have 3 daughters. Can anyone tell me any recent info on this campus? I have heard that this campus is violent, consumed with gang and drug activity but a new principle is turning things around. Does any one have kids currently in this school or know first hand information that they can share?

Thank you in advance.

It's true. Cy-Springs is the worst school is Cy-Fair ISD. Try to find a home zoned to Cy-Woods, Cy-Fair, or Cy-Creek. Avoid Cy-Springs, Cy-Ridge, and Langham Creek.

In the next two years many of the Cy Springs HS students will be rezoned to the new HS 11 on the Hegar campus: http://www.cfisd.net/bond/CFISD%20HS%2011.pdf and http://www.cfisd.net/lrpc/010914/Stu...C%201.9.14.pdf.
HS 11 will open in 2016.

Also, look at the new US News HS Rankings that came out this year: Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District | Texas | Best High Schools | US News. Per the website: Texas's Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District contains 11 high schools. The district contains eight schools that received gold, silver or bronze medals in the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings.

Hopefully this will help you with your decision making.

Cy-Ranch is the 2nd highest ranked HS in CFISD, after Cy-Woods.

Here is the story about the Rezoning:

Multi-campus planned in southern portion of CFISD
Posted:Sunday, February 3, 2013 10:00 am
By CRYSTAL SIMMONS

TheCy-Fair ISD board approved PBK Architects Inc. to design a179-acre site in the southern portion of the districtfor the location of three future schools – a high school, middle school and elementary school and a transportationcenter. Themulti-campus site, located at FM 529 and WestgreenBoulevard near the Grand Parkway and Fry Road, willinclude Middle School No. 19, High School 11 and Elementary55. Middle School 19 is projected to open firstin August 2015, followed by High School 11 in August2016 and Elementary 55. Themulti-campus will help relieve overcrowding in the district’ssouthern campuses, including Cy-Falls, Cy Lakes andCy Springs high schools and Cook, Dean, HopperLabay, Thornton and Truitt middle schools, said MartyEdwards, director of general administration for CFISD.

“Growth inthe southern part of the district, particularly in thearea of FM 529, Greenhouse and Fry Road, representsthe most pressing needs for our enrollment relief for our high schools,” saidEdwards. “Construction has alreadystarted for that area. Even though there are not many homes currently in thatarea, very quickly those will fill up.”

Plans forresidential developments indicate growth will be concentrated around the GrandParkway, including SettlersPlace located South of FM 529 near Westgreen Boulevard and Westgreen Lakeslocated near Clay Road and MasonRoad in Katy. WestgreenLakes, which extends to the west of the Grand Parkway, includes 1,566 acres offuture home sites. “There arethousands of potential homes within these developments,” said Edwards. “Ourcurrent and future data shows thatthe area south of FM 529 will be larger than the Fairfield community.” Whileboundary lines for the planned campuses have not yet been considered, Edwardsanticipates Cy-Ranch studentswill be rezoned to Cy-Spring, and Cy-Springs students will be rezoned to HighSchool 11 based on demographicdata projects for the next five years.

“AlthoughCy-Springs will not be over crowded by 2016-17, it will be involved in theboundary change due to its proximityto the Hegar road site and the lack of proximity to other high schools near theHegar site,” said Edwards. Ultimatelythe demographic study will influence how the southern districts are rezoned, said Edwards. "We'reunder enrollment projections for the middle school, but not the highschool," said Edwards. Theoptimal size of the new middle schools will be approximately 1350-1400 and thehigh school will contain about 2,800 to3,000 students, said Edwards. Once the design period starts, it takes a year toa year and a half to design a schooland about 27 months to construct a school, said Edwards. “The mainthing is we need to get started with design to meet the projected dates,” saidEdwards.
