Anyone know why? I loved that place as it was close to my house and cheap.

No way! That was a great place! I wonder if Jimmy Changa's put it out of business. I tried that last time I was down there and it was crowded but very VERY good. If they opened any place even close to that in LA it would be packed. No tex-mex here.

What I heard was that there had been "new management" in the recent past, & it was not going well. It closed with no notice--just a sign on the door when customers/employees arrived.

I seriously doubt it had anything to do with Jimmy Changa's, though. It had been going downhill for a while.

There's a big "For Lease" sign on the building right now.

Don Julio's in Missouri City closed down after being open about a year. Food was mediocre - I went there twice and each time the servings were teeny (and I am NOT of the super-size mentality) and my food was cold. Service wasn't that great. There were a lot of cases of food poisoning that actually sent people to the hospital. It just seemed poorly run. Don't know how it compares to other DJs in the Houston area. I'm not surprised they closed down.

The Dickinson one was pretty good--I think we went there off & on for at least 6-7years (maybe longer) before it started going down in quality. It was one of the few places around before the big building boom started here.

No way it went down because of Jimmy Changa's unless people like spending more on food than me. Sure it has a nice interior but not for the prices they want. It's Mexican food, it doesn't take much to make it.

I'd been there a couple times and thought it was decent. We actually went there because the wait for Jimmy Changa's was over an hour. Don Julio's was busy, but no wait.

The note on the door was placed by the landlord stating effective April 3rd, Don Julio's was closed.

They defaulted on their lease. They are being sued for not paying rent.

And technically...it was in League City, not Dickinson.

Maybe they over extended themselves. They had a successful one on NASA road one and then opened several in Houston that all subsequently closed. NASA road one still there but not as busy as it once was. Fajitas are high compared to changas. You know changas is owned by gringos. They also own bullritos. Changas may be higher on some stuff but not on the fajitas. Don Julio really high on those in comparison.

Well sorry but I was going off their own website.
