New phone area code for Houston set to activate July 1 - Houston Chronicle

Lucky for me....Google still had a supply of 713 and i snatch all them up for my home and cell.

I just got this notice as well. Has Houston grown that much? Somehow, I'm relating this new area code with our growing population which all end up with more traffic, a never ending story/problem... Ugh...

Makes sense. Apparently Chicago has 4 area codes as well. New York City has I think 6? Probably more if you include the whole metro area.
