I still change oil myself mostly. Last time I asked for synth oil with premium filter it was $80.

I buy the Valvoline synth at wally world and a Royal Purple filter from Amazon and it costs 1/3 the amount.

I've had shops deny my request to use my filter, but others have agreed.

Its rare to find someone to do a good job, that is easy and close by. Last shop I used they didn't clean anything and oil was not wiped off the under carriage area.

Yup, there's not a chance in h*ll that I'll ever take one of my cars to wally world, jiffy lube, etc. Our Armada only gets serviced at Mossy Nissan as we're good friends with the service manager, and the M5, Cobra and my step-daughter's Accord get serviced in my garage.

I wonder where I can take my steak that I bought to get it cooked for me and how much the cook will charge?

Then to side step the waiter / waitress fee I am going to demand to be able to go back into the kitchen.

#good way to get a medium rare look of disgust

Priceless.

I wouldn't change your oil for $6.00 that's a waste of my time. It would cost me more than that to replace the drain plug if I stripped it or lost it. In fact, I doubt anyone would do that, even your best bud.

Not sure where you're finding these $6 oil changes...

Its called being cheap & one day you'll regret it when your engine locks up from oil starvation.

With the money you save, buy a filter wrench and a dish tub to drain the oil in your garage or driveway.

Yup. The only place I used to bring my own oil to was the Audi dealership, but they would still charge me for a half hour of labor and no oil material charges. Only reason I did that was because I wanted a specific oil run in my vehicle that they didn't use, and they were fine with it. Helped that I had a great relationship with the technician and service writer. I don't know that they would have done it if it hadn't been for that relationship.

Bottom line, it doesn't hurt to ask but don't expect them to be welcoming to it. If you want it done right, buy the tools and do it yourself

So I should of told them, hey guys you're not charging me enough please charge more? I bring the filter and Mobil one synthetic oil and they're willing to change it for me, they name the price, not me. Sorry if you've been getting ripped off.

I haven't had to do to this in a few years since my last two vehicles have had free maintenance for 50k miles, but dealerships will do it.

Yep. My dad used to change his own oil. I wish he had taught me how to do it. But he did at least teach me how to check fluid levels and change tires.

LOL! I still do that, Dog. Put down a tarp, have an oil pan, change all vehicles (including two Harleys) right in the driveway. I also have a giant plastic can that holds five gallons to haul the expelled oil to Auto Zone for recycling.

General Tip: Never, EVER use your Mom's or wife's Tupperware for oil changes. You'll lose a limb!
