Check on har.com and click on the schools listed for each house. You can find rentals as well as homes for sale.

Just a note--South Katy is very hard to get rentals. Everyone wants to move there. Rent for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom can start at $1,250 on up. Most are $1,600 or more. You may get lucky to find one cheaper. You may pick a school, but then find there aren't rentals in your price range. Each house can get 10 applications or more, so you will be competing for them. The ones for $1,250 in that area are rare and usually they are older homes. Also, when looking on HAR.com, some houses may say they are Active, but many agents don't change the status to pending, so they may already have applications on them and you waste time looking at the home. When will you be moving? Depending on your budget and if you need to stick to around $1,250 to $1,400, you can look in north Katy. There are more rentals for that price range.

Just moved here a couple weeks ago from MA. Although I haven't experienced the schools yet I hear they are all very good. I have a boy going into the 4th grade. I was also told to stay south of I-10. We are renting in a new complex very centrally located. We were looking to rent a house at first and I'm glad we went with the apartment. Lots of amenities and close to everything. Hope you found something!
