Hi
My family will be relocating to Katy from New York. I am looking into elementary schools in Katy. My son will start Kindergarten next fall. All the schools seem to have great ratings but a little guidance would be appreciated!
Thanks

Give us a price range and we can help narrow it down. Generally south of I10 is good.

I am not familiar with the area at all. I read from earlier posts that you worked as a professional in the schools.
This is so overwhelming.. I am trying to research schools first and then find a place based on the school..
Any help will be appreciated!

There was a recent thread on here about elementary schools in Katy. Use the search feature and enter "Which elementary school to choose in Katy ISD?" I think you'll get some good info there. Personally, I have experience with both Bonnie Holland (wonderful school) and Griffin (not great for our son, but others love it). I have heard good things about Stanley, as well, but no first hand experience with the school. Good luck narrowing it down -- and welcome to Texas!

My personal favorites due to the staff/ principals and reputation are Griffin, Bonnie Holland, Stanley, Alexander, and shafer. The are many more wonderful campuses though.

Here is the KISD map.

The good thing about a new campus is that the teachers and students really bond and kids make friends easily. The good thing about an older campus is that they have more materials and an established vibe.

If you tell me your work location and a general budget, I can help narrow it down. Check on har.com for houses that are in your budget.

Yes, every school has a vibe and may or may not be a good fit for a child. Sorry you had a poor experience at Griffin.

If I were to move back to Katy I would try to live east of 99 and close to I 10. Commutes are generally shorter and there are tons of trees. I love the Green Trails neighborhood in particular. Pattison elementary is top notch and Nottingham country is really good. I would stay away from Cimarron and memorial Parkway, even though they are okay. There are better choices out there.
