I actually think they will found a way to build another HS for Riverstone. I don't think they can just re-zone the poor folks out of the school as much as they want to.

They have Hightower which is under capacity and I think where all the "poor folks" will get sent to. I can't see where the Riverstone rich kids will be zoned to. How can they build a HS when Elkins and Clements aren't that physically apart, and Elkins still has unused capacity?

I think this is the plan for schools as it relates to Riverstone. Still in draft, not exactly sure if is finalized yet... Don't know much nor care much about this stuff. My wife is taking care of the school stuff....

Nice info. As much as it is the right thing to do, I will be surprised if they can push this through. The last page is the interesting stuff. They are proposing rezoning the poor kids to Hightower just like the previous poster said.

The poorer folks going to have a riot when this happen.

I'm white and it's pretty offensive. Sorry.
We chose to stay in Clements or Austin because of the schools' reputations, not because of their racial makeup. There are smart and achieving "other races" out there besides white and Asian.

My girl friend, who lives in Riverstone, is convinced that her kids will be zoned to Clements by the time they are in high school. Don't think it's gonna happen, though.

Saying politically correct things doesn't change the fact you are not sending your kids to Hightower either.

I wish some of the people here would just call a spade a spade.

The school performance and reputation go hand in hand with the racial makeup of the school unfortunately. Found me one regular public school where other minorities are majority and are top of the school ranking.

That's laughable. This will never happen. Clements is at capacity, what neighborhoods do you think will be zoned out of Clements?
