I plan on doing my homework before we move and switch him to a new school. We are even looking at possibly private schools.

Thank you again for all the input and options.
Is your son in pre-AP or AP courses? If he is not being challenged at the school and is still in regular courses, it's probably a good idea to have a conversation with the counselor and get him into pre-AP or AP courses. Also, Clear Creek ISD has an "early college" high school that's supposed to be excellent, so that might be an option. I would check for solutions at your campus or in your district before you decide to move or go the private school route.

Friendswood is generally regarded as having the best schools on the south-southeast side. Then the Clear Lake schools and Pearland. You could also look at Barbers Hill, east of Baytown, if you're willing to commute.

However, I have to reiterate as a question the other issues raised - as long as the school isn't a war zone and has some students taking the SAT/ACT and AP classes, how much does it matter?
