At 2-3 you're still eligible for ECI. Call the DARS and get ECI services and they should help you transition to school and give you help with schools and resources depending on if your children will benefit from public school special education or a special day school 3-21 program - Avondale, Texana, The New School in the Heights, etc.

Does insurance even pay for the Monarch? Considering it calling it tuition I've always assumed it was out of pocket. Special schools usually are insurance paid mostly with a small percentage out of pocket.

It is extremely important that you first call in ECI. They will help you in so many ways!

As for the school, I have heard that they have some great programs in Springs ISD. I am afraid someone from Sugar Land will be able to help you better but again, if you haven't already contacted ECI then you should give them a call. I am sure they'll help you figure out everything. Good luck!

Edit: I just read your post again and looks like you haven't moved just yet. I think you should look up RAY K. DAILY Elementary school in West houston. The PALS teacher there is amazing. I have never seen such an incredibly energetic woman. She "gets it", I mean the problems that comes with Autism or being on the spectrum. She "gets" it. Am I making sense here? Lol

Basically, she is awesome and you should definitely check out the school.

Thank you for all sharing!

Monarch school is private one and we have to pay out of pocket.

My both sons have been receiving all services that they could be. They are at Texana now from 8:30 to 3:00 (almost for free).

I am just planning for them after they graduate from Texana, in the next two more years!
We are a low income family, so we can not afford private school.
Public school is my way!
Please help me find out a good one for them.
Thank you very much!

I am father of 7 year old autistic kid. We are moving from CA to Houston. I got to know that there are good elementary schools in Sugar Land and they had old programs still existing in Fortbend school district.
I am debating on moving to either Sugar Land or Katy.

Please advise on good school districts.

I am not looking for private schools for now.

Spring Branch ISD has the best program for spec ed in my opinion. Katy is hit or miss, as is Sugarland. You really must go campus by campus to find out. Try an autism support group for the real scoop.
