It seems alot of transplants move out there and houses keep getting built at a rapid pace. Are the schools out there overcrowded?

Some are but most are not. If you live in an "older" area of Katy South, the schools are fairly stable in population. If you live in the far west part of Katy, then yes.

Katy is a huge district.

Yes. College is going to seem like a small world after those High Schools.

Yes, that seems to be the perception. Consider Richmond; I understand lcisd has 4a high schools and the quality of the education is underrated compared to say katy. At least that is what gets thrown around on this board often.

Yes.

And I always wonder when people say "Oh Katy has good school district", did they really check the statistics & trends? It takes years to build good schools, few years of good SAT scores, test grades can be attributed many different factors.

That's horribly exaggerated. Most universities have well over 10,000 students, whereas the most any high school around here would have is 5,00-6,000. Granted that school size may catch a few wide eyes with those numbers from other kids they meet around the country and tell it to, but in the overwhelming majority of cases they will not be going to a college smaller than their hs.

I'm from Houston, grew up in Houston...wide eyes would come from me at the time and from my kids now. 5-6000'for a high school is huge. Sorry. Mpc burb school enrollment numbers are not the norm.

Fyi, my kids go to Washington and Lee, Wake Forest and another most likely on one of those tracks. All of those schools are smaller than Cinco Ranch/Seven Lakes. Heck probably smaller than their junior highs. The biggest public school on our area has 2300 students. The private schools we attend are far less.

"Horribly Exaggerated?"not so much.

I went to a small college too (total enrollment under 2500). These high schools scare me, and I am 38.

(One of my very good friends is a Washington & Lee grad BTW.)

I went to Cinco Ranch when it had 4,000+ students. It's not that big of a deal. Going to college (large public university 30,000+) was also not a big deal. Allen High School almost has 6,000 (Yes, six THOUSAND) students and they operate just fine. Yes, this area is growing. Props to the administrators and principals for running a well oil machined.
