A friend is moving to Riverstone (I think that is Missouri City? Or Sugar Land?) and is looking for a Catholic church that has a sizeable AA community. I looked up Catholic churches in the area and found St Angela and Holy Family. Does anyone know about these or have any other ideas?

Those don't exist..you gotta head into Houston for it.... Holy family's 11 am service is the closest you'll get as it offers a decent song selection

Missouri city has a significant AA community. I have a friend that goes to St. Angela that lives out there, they are not AA though.

Try St. Lawrence on Sweetwater Blvd. It's fairly close to Riverstone.

a lot of black families in that area come to St. Thomas Moore in the Westbury area.

There seems to be a large African community there.

The right music can turn a catholic church mass into a live place....

the traditional church mass with the organ is fine but there's something about the singing of the song amen with a catchy beat

If EthanW is white....who created white flight? blacks surely didn't

Why not? My kids are mixed. I have an interracial marriage:-) Black people are as beautiful and smart as any other races. I don't see things white and black, I just see people at the other end.

Oh so you like the good old Baptist Churches then. I like them too and the choirs are on point as well. If you cannot sing and move people, you will not be allowed to sing or should I say sang (yes there is a difference). Elderly women will come up to you and say "Bless yo heart, but baby that ain't yo' gift. Why don't you join the usher board?"

What is the difference between a black catholic church and a white one? Are the black catholic churches similar to the baptist ones? From what I have seen, black churches are not as structured when it comes to worship...shrugs
