Hi, I am moving to Houston for work and am looking for recommendations on apartments. I will be working near Rice University. I would prefer a 1 bed 1 bath for less than 700/mo. A good, safe neighborhood is also what I want. Thanks!

I live in a place that is 600 bucks a month, and it is an absolute dive. I also refuse to live outside of the loop, so that might be an issue.

Have you considered rooming with someone? There are a few people on CL that own town homes, but rent out their bedrooms that are next to their garage for a price you may be comfortable with... Inside the loop, finding a 1BR/1BA for less than $700 may be tough!

You may need to give up on the apartment complex idea. Try to find a duplex or fourplex in an areas such as Eastwood. This probably means driving and looking for signs out front. I would bet you can find a one bedroom for 700 or less.

lenox isn't offering 1 bed apts until october. i posted a CL ad seeking a roommate earlier so hopefully i can find a reliable person. but yea, i'm still looking for a good apt complex, i've been searching/doing research for a week and most of the places i've got in touch with were low ratings/trashy areas. also, the crime rate in houston is unbelievable.
