I am in the bookkeeping/accounting field, in the private sector, small to mid-sized companies, not corporate, prefer family or partnership owned. My experience is in offices (medical, sales, general), hotels, restaurants, etc.

You should be able to find something along I-10 between Katy and downtown, but just be mentally prepared for other work centers like Uptown/Galleria (I-610), Greenway Plaza (US-59), the Medical Center (US-288), Westchase (BW-8), or Greenspoint (I-45). There are also mid-rises randomly along all the various freeways that house smaller companies as well as other communities like the Woodlands, Sugar Land, and Clear Lake that have similar infrastructure.

You might have to pass over one or two better offers depending on how much commute you're willing to endure.

I agree with above. Katy doesnt have small town vibe to me at all. Its just a mishmash of neighborhoods. Small town feel possibly would be Old Katy or further out to Fulshear

Westres1 bring up a good point for clarification. There are two Katys when people refer to this area. There is greater Katy, which covers everything from Barker Cypress at I-10 west to Pederson road, and Clay road south to FM1093/Westpark Tollway. This is where you'll find endless suburban residential communities with commercial strip centers connecting them all together.

Then there is the City of Katy, or Katy proper, or Old Town Katy, depending on who you ask. I've been referring to this version of Katy. Even if you are not able to find something you like inside the city limits, you might still find something comparable in a nearby suburb that could give you the best of both worlds: small town amenities and modular home construction.

Have you had a chance to try har.com? Using their map search could help you zero in on exactly what you're looking for.
