I see house prices all over the board, from $30,000-$300,000. Can you guys give me an idea what the price range is for working class neighborhoods, as in not in the ghetto, not in upper-middle-class areas?

Thanks

You can find working class in older cypress, jersey village, to ball, spring if you need north side. Just search on har for those areas as well as areas mentioned by oildog. Older pearland and friendswood too and enter the price range you need.

Check meadows place in 77477. I wouldn't say it's altogether "working class," but it's not super expensive (say 150k) and is a good area with good schools and safe. To me it's the epitome of getting a lot of bang for your buck in the houston area, and it has remained affordable unlike a lot of areas. There are a range if incomes there from working class to upper middle class.

$200-250k.

Anything less will be a ghetto quick as many will gather multiple families to buy the house then you wonder why so many kids at your kids school qualify for free lunch when there are no apartments around.

They'll get you nice, stable neighborhoods with less of a chance of turning ghetto. The $150-175s turn real fast with everyone moving to Houston.

Plug different budgets into HAR.com under single family and just look at the houses, surrounding areas and schools.

Nah... Perhaps if you are just talking new builds. But that wasn't OPs question

77065 (NW, near Cypress) in neighborhoods like Bonaire, Oak Cliff Place, Meisterwood you can find 30 yr old houses, in decent shape, just not fancy... $150k or less. Good schools, low crime. Quiet safe neighborhoods
