Hello, I am a 37 yr old blk male. Lately my hair line has been receding at an alarming rate the last couple of weeks and I can't think of a reason why. I'm not stressed as life is good, and only a few months ago I had a physcial and was given a clean bill of health. So if someone could recommend to me a good dermatologist or doctor and that is good for treating hair loss I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Default Nature..

Is it even, or in patches? If even, then I think your are fine, there is nothing to be alarmed about. Just to be clear that there is no white elephant in this thread... it is just natural for men to lose hair when they get older, and unfortunately, some get bald. It has been recorded going all the way back to the ancient Egyptians, and no one has found a cure, so don't hold your breath. Anyone who sells you *anything* is just a quack and you will be buying snake oil. You will be wasting your money... unless you want plugs, but that is not what you asked about originally.

If it bothers you that much, maybe you should just shave your head. Black men look a whole lot better, and younger, with shaved heads than non-black men anyway. Take advantage of it, don't waste time trying to hold on to it, embrace it for it will go on it's own.

Nooooooo, LOL, i have a big head. I don't think I would look good bald. I have nice, thick naturally wavy hair. My girl loves. The recession is along the temple areas. The left side had receded a little further than the right. I think its a 2 on the norwood scale right now.

Anyone know if the heredity thing is supposed to be on your mothers side or fathers, or is that just a myth?

I've read that doctors believe it can be inherited from either side. If it's a dominant gene, you have a 50% chance of devleoping it. If its recessive, then the percentage decreases to 25%

Default 'Looks like classic baldness to me...

To me it looks like the classic baldness... 'any European blood in your family? The European men seem to always bald to a degree. People with Mexican (myself) and Asian heritage don't have that problem as much for some reason... and we all are born with full heads of hair at birth in case you were not aware of that. If you have a big head, then you'd just look intimidating. 'Still, I would not hesitate if I were in that boat, but I would hate to have to maintain it I guess. Shave it!
