Fuddruckers was established in San Antonio and has been in Houston for a long time. It's not new territory by any means. The number of stores has fluctuated as the company has changed ownership several times in a rather short period.

It was around long before the "upscale" burger places like Five Guys, Smashburger etc. but now the fast-casual burger sector is a lot more competitive.

I believe they've expanded massively. I looked up the store locator several years ago and there were one or two locations. Now there are almost 20.

I believe as recently as three years ago, there were only a couple of stores in the Houston area.

Wasn't aware it had become that few, but they nearly went under during the recession and Luby's bought it out of auction. A decade earlier, there were at least three just going from Galveston up 45 into the middle of Houston. IIRC the one on 59 across from Greenway Plaza never closed. The one I went to most in Webster I think did shut down sometime in the 2000s.

I couldn't give you an exact number but there have been several for as long as I can remember.

I know of 3 that have been open forever just in the NW part of Houston. Willowbrook Mall, Hwy 6 Copperfield, and Hwy 290 at Hollister. And there are several others around town that have been open for years.

So Pappas bought them from Luby's? We've enjoyed going there for sports end of season parties and for a good burger, way before all of the other chains entered the Houston market. I prefer Beck's Prime, but when we have coupons and I am feeding 6 people in my family, Fuddruckers saves me probably $20 a meal.

No, Lubys owns Fudds still. Two of the Pappas family are part of the Lubys management team.

There are 2 in that area. Maybe it moved due to construction.

Fuddruckers are all over the place. The question is, is it any good? I've actually never been.
