Hi All,

We are planning to buy a home in the The Reserve @Katy by Toll brothers.
We picked Katy, just for the Katy ISD (schools) and toll brothers.

Relatively new in this housing market. Please guide us through this. Any experiences with The Reserve @Katy or Toll brothers ? Or schools associated.

We were told that schools we would come under would be
Wood Creek Elementary School,
Katy High School.

Please throw some light on the schools.

Your response is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much !

Thanks for the reply.

How are the schools in specific ?And since it is totally a new community, we are not aware of the development and other related stuff.

New Kroger and super 24hr fitness is coming up in the The Reserve @Katy development. Katy High, Wood Creek JH & EL. all are solid schools. you'll have Katy PD & FD since you're in City limits(that's a big plus) you'll be surrounded by mostly home developments (Firethorne & Woodcreek) instead of strip malls and apartments(that's another plus). New schools are on the way to relieve the crowded EL & JH, Katy HS has community support and tradition that's un-matched by any other school in the Houston area.

I am glad.. I asked this question on this forum.. we have a picture at least.
How about commute to Medical Center, and my work timings are 8 AM to 5 PM.
I heard there would be Park & Ride in those areas, but have not heard from any one using it.

What would be best time to commute to our work place?

My husband's work station is near Galleria.

Thanks so much!

The Galleria will be around 30-40min and the med Center will be 45min to an hour easily depending on traffic. Not sure if park and rides are offered directly to the med center, but you can park and ride to DT and transfer to the metro rail (med center).

I-10 doesn't start to get pack until around 6am(leaving) and 4pm(coming home)

Not saying you won't have any negatives with your home builder, but any relatively large one will have a decent number of complaints and situations where they screwed up on homes. Overall, Toll is a very well known builder in the area and most people are happy with their purchase from them. The best thing you can do to not be that 1/10 case where they mess up is to remain very active throughout the homebuilding process, and have your own inspections performed external to their company regarding all their work if you can afford it.

Sounds good. Thanks for the heads up Curbur!

Me and my husband are in lots of confusion to pick on this for only one reason now "COMMUTE"

I hear from people saying "Katy is so far and I 10 is bumper to bumper in the mornings and evenings, why don't you buy a home in Sugar Land?"

When we compared the distances from my work place, it is 26 and 36 miles from SL and Katy respectively. Now, at the cost of travel time is it worth it to live so far in Katy?

For the same price, we get a bigger house in Katy and smaller house in SL. And not all schools in Sugar Land are well recognized. Not sure, which one would our kid go into.

Please throw your opinions. Would like to hear from you.

TIA.

If you're using Park & Ride, Katy is your better option. SL has very limited transit service into Houston and isn't in the METRO service area. You'd have to drive to the Bellfort Park & Ride in Houston, near the Beltway, to access it.

There is a METRO Park & Ride with direct service from Katy to the Medical Center, though it's not as frequent as the Downtown service.
