Hello I will be relocating to houston sometime before the end of january 2015. About me I am 22, single, college educated, moving alone, and enjoy my privacy. I am originally from compton,ca and moving from the shreveport area of louisiana. I am concerned with finding the right apartment for me. Can anyone give me a heads up on what places to avoid as well and some to consider, please?
I want to be some where safe and quiet,i do not like big apartment complexes as they tend to have a lot of children or families. Maybe no more than 40 units which is still a lot of people to me. I dont like sharing walls with a lot of people, dont want anywhere with bug problems, the apartment must have central air and heat, porcelain tubs and sinks, not they cheap plastic fiber glass looking stuff. I prefer a townhome or garage apartment, but any apartment safe and clean I am open to checking out. Somewhere gated or atleast has reserved parking or attached parking,no street side parking. I would like the apartment to have a washer and dryer in unit but thats the one thing I am willing to sacrifice if needed. Also a dishwasher and everything to be more modern. My budget for a 1 or (2 bedroom if applicable) is 800 max. I would like to avoid the southside of houston as much as possible. I am open to smaller sub areas surrounding houston but no more than an hour commute from downtown.

Is this a realistic budget? Where should I avoid? Where should I consider? I am very open minded. Please be as honest and detailed as possible.

Thanks for your help

You want a two bedroom townhouse with modern appliances with assigned parking in a good neighborhood for $800 a month? Lol, good luck with that.
