He is quite the legend. He is known for his charities as well as his business sense.

He has a right to his opinion. He didn't actually stop the expansion, did he?

The key is $85 on Dec 31. It can be $100 all summer.

I think it is a safe bet for the store.

That said, how is the quality and price of the store itself?
I actually will have to buy furniture to furnish my house so I might buy it from there.
I have not been shopping around. Is this a good place to get furniture from?

Quality is decent. I have bought furniture from them only to find it couple of hundred dollars cheaper on Fondren st. but then again there are some things that you can't find anywhere else that easily like rare "made in US" stuff. If you are looking for one stop shop for all your furniture needs then this might be the place for you. I personally like to mix and match different furniture from different places though.

The way I'm reading it, it's if it goes above $85 at any point by Dec. 31.

It's like a conditional inversion of the classic "no payments until next year" promotion. You pay now, and if this condition that none of us control is met, you get your money back. For the customer, you get furniture that might eventually become "free" and, if it does, it amounts to an interest-free loan to Mac's operation in exchange for some merchandise that, like any retail outfit, is sold at a hefty markup. Customers are happy, so they eventually come back and Mac makes money off them either way.

It's brilliant, really. The guy didn't get this big, starting from nothing, being an idiot.

And, of course, you'll take home furniture and not a back-back-back-backorder slip.
