I'd like to know what are your thought for the future of westbury high school in the westbury are off 610. The area is changing & house prices are sky high but zoned westbury high is not one of the better schools.

1) what do you think will happen w/ westbury high as far as their academics? I read that they are planning or trying to rebuild the school buy adding new buildings.

2) are more single families with NO KIDS moving into the area? Bc they don't have to think about schools?

3) do you see changes to westbury in the next 10 years? Westbury & bellaire are the two high schools around there. How's the reputation at bellaire high today?

4) or do families send their kids to private if they are zoned to westbury bc testing in or lottery into other HISD schools is not always in your favor..

Thanks! For your thoughts!

I live in one of the nicer neighborhoods that is in the Westbury zone. Most families here take advantage of the magnet program or send their kids to private.

Most people use magnets or private for high school if they are zoned for Westbury. It may be changing though in the next 5-10 years.

you do better going to Westbury as HISD finally mans up and makes Bellaire and Lamar caps enrollment as the future schools will have less capacity

those two schools have cannibalized HISD

What magnet program for hs? You mean apply to other hisd (magnet) high schools?
But we are never sure if we get accepted into others bc it's application based..??

Check out the magnet program for HISD. There are some amazing high schools, but it's not guaranteed acceptance like a zoned school.

I can't imagine Westbury High being a school people buying 400k+ homes sending their kids to for some time. Probably 10 years out at least.

I think you are right. But I'm wondering what kind of change & what the future hold in next 10 years for westbury high.....will it be comparable to bellaire & Lamar? Hmmm?

Me either! That's why I'm curious what families are doing....bc what about the other families who can't afford private? And other magnet schools in hisd are not promised....it will be a sight to see what happens in 10 years to westbury high with many 400-500k homes zoned to westbury.
