Another week another batch of bad news.

Might test the lows for the year by next week. We could be at $40 by the end of the month.

I was just about to post this Jack.

80% of the layoffs in service as the contracts priced downward or canceled.

Now the rest of the industry is going to start cutting back. I reckon the majors will be chopping this next quarter.

This is going to get nasty quick really soon.

“Oil is a long-term business, requiring long-term plans and long-term investor confidence,” Dr. Al-Muhanna said. “I do not believe the recent huge price drop is justified only by a change in fundamentals. As with all markets, there is an element of herd mentality that can often take over. One thing that will never be in short supply is analysts predicting the worst.

“Some want to take extreme views for their work to be read, noticed, and get quoted. The best way to minimize their negative impact is to resist the conspiracy theories and correct the misinformation.”

This is not the industry for people who cannot function in the absence of certainty and guarantees. But for those who can, they will govern themselves accordingly and benefit from the periods of abundance, and batten down the hatches during periods of downturn. Point blank period, end of story.
