Anyone have any suggestions?? And don't drive a Benz isn't acceptable, LOL!!

I've tried two, SugarLand (tried to do repairs I didn't need) and Spring (left needing something else repaired). How are the ones in Austin and Dallas? Yes, I'm willing to drive to find someone I can trust to work on my car.

Thanks!

I have heard good things about Star Motors but don't have any firsthand experience with them.

Actually Star is terrible. Had two really frustrating issues with them on a new car,as well as repairs that never got repaired on another vehicle. They used to be very good, but about 10 years ago it started to go downhill in our experiences.

We drive way out of our way to Sugarland. Haven't had any bad issues with them. Customer service is very good in comparison. No clue about Greenway, I generally don't like them, because of their sales personnel.

K&H Autohaus downtown on San Jacinto is very good with all German Cars. We generally go to him for all repairs on out of warranty cars.

My top 2 would be Mercedes Benz of Houston North and Greenway.

Look for something besides dealerships.

garages that specialize in european cars will be your best bet. ask other owners.

or learn how to wrench on your own car.

I can't recommend this advice. German cars are electronics heavy and a lot of little mom and pop shops wiill eff up your German automobile. Take it to the dealer if it's something big. If it's small, yea you can probably do it yourself.

If you don't want to deal with the maintenance costs, buy the extended warranty or sell it and buy a Honda or Toyota.

I agree with this advice. There are so many ex dealership mechanics who have the desired experience and are somewhat cheaper and reliable than the dealership. Best option is to join your local MB forum try asking people for a good mechanic. When I had my audi I found 2 guys in town who used to work at Audi dealership and now run their own place. They weren't cheap but they were cheaper than than dealership. So look for references from local people who have similar cars. Not every one goes to the dealership unless the car is under warranty.

A co-worker paid $800 to the dealer (Greenway) to replace his batteries. I think he could have maybe saved a little had he done it elsewhere, or himself.

Don't know the full story, but it's possible your coworker had other services rendered with the battery change. There are people out there that feel the need to pay for a "tune-up" every time they go to the dealership. My little brother was one of these people. He would pay the lexus dealership $300+ for a oil change and tune-up, when I told him he's wasting his money. Eventually he learned, but it took awhile.
