Hi Everyone,

Im new here. Im from MD and Im moving to Texas City, Houston. I have 2 toddlers and wife so Im looking to find the best and safest place to live in an apartment with 2 bedrooms near Texas City. Can anyone give any recommendations? I am looking for a safe apartment where my two toddlers can run around safely even if I have to travel for the most of 15 miles from Emmett F Lowry, Texas City.

Thank you

Texas City is a gritty old refinery town and not the nicest place to be. But Emmett Lowery is right next to I-45 and you can get to all kinds of nice apartments within 15 miles. Dickinson, League City, Clear Lake, Webster are all safe suburban options.

A friend lived at Greystar Beacon Lakes in Dickinson up to last year. I thought it was a very nice place. And probably no more than 10 miles to the Mall of the Mainland which is right off 45 and Emmett Lowery. I think he was paying around $1,200 for a 2 bedroom. Good Luck!

As already stated--you most likely wouldn't want to live in Texas City. The Beacon Lakes apartments mentioned by bmantx512 are nice--they may be considered League City rather than Dickinson--one of those "depends on which side of the road it is" things
They're on 646 close to 45, so it's a quick way to Texas City. Stick with apartments in the League City area, & you should be safe.

I'm sure there are some safe complexes within Texas City but it would take an actual resident or a former resident with a neutral attitude to tell you the names and areas. I know nothing about Texas City more than what I hear second and third hand or that I see driving past. Texas City is old and working class city and minimal new development. The non-industrial areas would be those nearest I-45 and I don't think there is much in that area. People tend to gravitate toward newer areas so that said, the nicest, family areas "near" Texas City would be the League City area.

If you like Baltimore, you'll love Texas City.

And where do you live that you know so much about every suburb in the greater Houston area and the inner loop? What areas do you view with any positives ?

I have worked an outside sales job for 17 years and get to travel all over Houston 5 days a week, 48 weeks a year so I believe my opinion matters more than most. Why mislead these people? What is wrong with being honest?

Guess because you are misleading about living inside the loop. It's a great place for those to live who can afford to do so. And pretty much every community (there are a few exceptions), even blue collar working class areas have some nice and safe areas with good people living in them. There's something here here for most incomes but sometimes it does take people who live in thise areas day to day to know the real skinny.
