We are a family of 4 plus 1 fur baby My husband will start working there next week. The girls and I will move down there once they finish out the school year. We know nothing about Texas. From looking at a map, I thought Bridge City might be good but I read that 95% of it was totally flooded but hurricane Ike. Where would be the safest place to start looking for a home?

Yes it flooded, but it's still one of the better areas to live in over there. Notice that people moved right back in after the hurricanes. Nederland or Port Neches or Groves are where you want to look.

I agree with DanielWaynes comment. I lived in that area through the 90s.
